Bio: Dr. Thomas Satterwhite earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology with Honors and his Medical Degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He continued at Stanford Hospital to complete his residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. To further specialize in facial surgery, Dr. Satterwhite pursued a craniofacial fellowship in Miami, Florida, under the guidance of Dr. S. Anthony Wolfe, a renowned leader in the field.
Dr. Satterwhite is an accomplished academic and thought leader in plastic, reconstructive, craniofacial, and gender-affirming surgery. Over the years, he has delivered more than 80 podium presentations at national and international conferences and has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He actively contributes to the advancement of his field through leadership and committee roles in prominent organizations, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), USPATH, The Aesthetic Society, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Notably, he recently served as Scientific Committee Co-Chair for the WPATH and USPATH conferences.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Satterwhite serves as a peer reviewer for several academic journals and sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is deeply committed to education and mentorship, having guided numerous medical students, residents, and surgeons through training at his practice. He also holds a faculty position as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, at Stanford Medical Center, where he is the Co-Director of the Gender Affirming Surgery Rotation for senior Stanford plastic surgery residents.
